"POPULAR*" Song Category explained...
A Song only qualifies to be in our ‘Popular*’ category if it has been:
~ Published in hardcover hymnals, for which we are typically paid standard royalties.
~ Translated into other language(s). Usually we ask for no royalties.
~ Used as the theme song for weeklong Bible Schools. (n/c)
~ Used by congregations as a default closing 'blessing song' after regular Sunday morning services (n/c)
~ Recorded for CDs or performed by other persons or groups on CDs, YT, etc. (n/c)
~ Used at public functions. such as weddings, receptions, funerals, school programs, etc. (n/c)
~ Included in non-commercial songbooks, such as ones printed and bound for family holidays, special youth conferences, retreats, etc., usually printing less than 100 copies. No royalties asked, but we usually request a free copy of the completed songbook or CD.
~ A song that has been heartily/enthusiastically endorsed by person(s) unknown to the composer
~ Dialed many times &/or listened to by the hour on our free (720) 721-1516 telephone song-lines. [This is part of our ‘non-profit’ ministry to the Amish and other Internet-free groups. The song-lines access more than nine hundred recordings of 4-part harmonies and S, A, T, B individual parts recordings of dozens of Stan’s songs, plus all the others published in our songbooks.
