I Like to Sing When I'm Alone

I LIKE TO SING WHEN I'M ALONE

Since I'm more of a "loner" than most of my friends, I'm thankful God gave me this "people-song" which children— and families with children— love to sing. May you enjoy its encouraging message!

When I wrote the song back in 2003, our society seemed to enjoy a safer and saner culture, so today the song's themes are increasingly vital.
 We who are Christians know we are social creatures-- descending not from monkeys or apes, but from a man after God's image, one He declared to be "very good." In Acts 17:26 God reminds us that He created "of one blood all nations of men..." and determined the bounds of their habitation.

As you listen, perhaps God will bring some friend to your mind who would be blessed if you SHARE it with them on Facebook, or by an Email or Message link.

If you would like to Purchase with Special Discounts our CD with all of its 21 original songs, or either of our songbook Collections, just click HERE. Or, you can download individual tracks at Amazon Music, CD Baby, iTunes, etc.

If you LIKE this video on my personal or "Heart Songs" Facebook page, you should be able to occasionally see my future videos. Thanks, and God bless you, until I can "sing with you" in person!

I LIKE TO SING WHEN I'M ALONE

1.I like to sing when I'm alone, but I'd rather you'd sing with me,

Sweet voices blended all in one make a happier harmony;
Yes, you can sing all by yourself, you need not be a throng,
But voices joined in harmony give a richer, sweeter song.

2.I like to hike when I'm alone, but I'd rather you'd hike with me,
I like to share the things you hear and see the things you see;
It is not wrong to hike along in solitude, alone,
But when we're walking hand-in-hand what a greater joy is known.

3.I like to work when I'm alone, but I'd rather you'd work with me,
A tedious task is quickly halved when "I" gives place to "we;"
Yes, you can work without my help, in hearty zeal and zest,
But when we're working side-by-side, then our work is doubly blest.

4.I like to pray when I'm alone, but I'd rather you'd pray with me,

Our Savior says there's extra pow'r where two or three agree;
Yes, when I'm at His throne alone it is a sacred place,
But when our prayers are joined in one, God gives us special grace.

    Purpose of Blog

    Tips... Insights... Song-writing How-to... Critiques... Time-saving Methods... to help make YOU a joyful bard for the Lord.

    My best-known songs are probably "Lo, I Come"– composed before I was married– and "Teach Me, O Lord, to Number My Days" which you may have seen in various hymnals. I have many others trying to sneak out of their file folders, to join the march of music around the world.

    Some will be introduced here first as just lyrics, to study the crafting of their messages, others will have music mp3 files or videos also.
