Thank You, Lord, for Mothers!

A new song, just in time for Mother's Day!  Written less than two months ago (on 3-16-2026) it honors Christian mothers everywhere. Honoring our parents is "the first commandment with promise"— and every busy, devoted mother is worthy of our sincerest appreciation. Thank you, devoted moms!

And Where, Dear Heart?

And where, dear heart, where will you find
Marvelous love in humankind?
Search as you will this world of sin--
Where is our first and fairest friend?
In motherhood bright glories shine,
Crafted in Heav'n with touch Divine,
          with touch Divine.

Our life, through pain, she brings to birth,
Hallows the sting of Eve's old curse,
And — as did Mary, with God's Son --
So Mary's daughters, one by one,
Train tender hearts, through years, to stand
Faithfully with the Son of Man,
          the Son of Man.

How blest the home where mother-pray'r
Blossoms in fragrance rich and rare,
Orders her days her Lord to please,
Serving with love 'the least of these,'
Gives mother-smiles from face to face,
Touching her tasks with healing grace,
         with healing grace.

Awake, dear heart — rise up to laud
Motherhood sanctified by God;
Thankful we'll be, so, Lord, we cry,
"Give them each day in full supply
Treasures of mercies true and good,
Wisdom and strength for motherhood,
          for motherhood."

    Purpose of Blog

Tips... Insights... Song-writing How-to... Critiques... Time-saving Methods... to help make YOU a joyful bard for the Lord.

My best-known songs are probably "Lo, I Come"– composed before I was married– and "Teach Me, O Lord, to Number My Days" which you may have seen in various hymnals. I have many others trying to sneak out of their file folders, to join the march of music around the world.

Some will be introduced here first as just lyrics, to study the crafting of their messages, others will have music mp3 files or videos also.
